I received an MA in applied linguistics and TESOL for Leicester University in 2003 and am currently in the final stages of an ESRC funded PhD at the University of Southampton. I have been teaching English for over 10 years, both in the UK and Asia, and continue to do so at the University of Southampton. I am also involved in teaching applied linguistics at both Southampton and the University of Leicester.

My research interests and publications include the areas of culture and language learning, intercultural communication and intercultural awareness, English as a lingua franca, English use in Asia and learning strategies in EAP.
